Anyone figured away around it other then making the speedo read lower with a speedo healer fooling the ECM ?

are you asking how to make the bike go above 160 or have the speedo read more then that?

I'm asking how to make the bike go above that limiter at 160'AND have the speedo read correctly..I know you can buy a speedo healer and make it read slower then your really going and get the actual bike to go faster then the limiter due to the fact it thinks your going less then the limiter but I was wondering if anyone had figured out how to get around the limiter and still have everything work on the bike?

Thank you for the reply

the z1000s dont have a speed limiter on them. thats as fast as they will go due to gearing.

Well all I can tell you is I have owned and raced countless bikes for years and this bike with the pipe on shoots to 159-160 and hits a limiter but the Tac is not at redline...I'm sure there pulling timing out in the 6th gear map 99%..just wondered if somebody had figured it out already...

I thought the n1k was limited because of the improved aerodynamic properties over the z1k. Didnt think the z was limited. Everyone says the stock gearing just runs out.

Don't know about a speed limiter but my Z only did 149 mph on the dyno :dontknow:

Do us all a favor. Drop down the back sprocket and see if it still runs out at the same spot.
Thatll settle the issue for sure.

According to the gearing calculators the top *theoretical* speed with stock gearing is 249km/h or 155mph.

i hav had several bikes with less hp that would run faster. the tach might not be at redline but pretty sure its not limited. just doesnt have the power to go any faster with stock gearing. there was a guy on here a while back that got his 3rd gen to do 175 mph by the speedo because he added 1 tooth to the crank sprocket.

changing sprokets is guna be your best bet. but then you will not get to the topspeed as quick. unless your racing or going for land speed records i dont see why you would need to go over 160. if your racing the bike your on the wrong bike got get a ninja.

theres really not too many places to go faster than 160 mph. it sux thats all our bikes will do when any of the modern liter bikes will top out in the 170s & 180s. i know mine will get to 145 to 150 mph by the speedo pretty quick. seems like it takes forever to get to 160 by the speedo with stock gearing. i havnt went over 130 mph since i dropped a tooth on my crank sprocket. according to the gearing calculator, with the gearing i am running now my bike will top out at 146 mph corrected. but i know it will get to 130 in the blink of an eye now.

I think when you're talking in triple digits and mph, the term *need* is really *want* because in every day riding (not racing) nobody NEEDS to go that fast.

i agree that theres really no need to go that fast. if my bike would do 170 or 180, i would have to run it up there atleast once.
